Kia Seltos Gets 5-Star Bharat NCAP Rating — Score, Test Results & Details
The Kia Seltos has been awarded a 5-star safety rating by Bharat NCAP. The results were announced on March 30, 2026, making the Seltos one of the highest-scoring mid-size SUVs tested by the Indian safety body so far.

Bharat NCAP tested two variants — the HTE(O) diesel automatic and the GTX diesel automatic. The ratings, however, apply to all variants of the Seltos regardless of engine or gearbox option.
Adult Occupant Protection — 31.70 Out of 32
The Seltos scored 31.70 out of 32 points in adult occupant protection. This is one of the better scores seen in Bharat NCAP testing.

In the frontal offset deformable barrier test, the Seltos scored 15.70 out of 16. Protection for the driver's head, chest, pelvis, thighs and right tibia was rated "good." Both feet and the left tibia got an "adequate" rating. The co-driver's critical body parts all received "good" protection.
In the side movable deformable barrier test, the Seltos scored a perfect 16 out of 16. Head, chest, abdomen and pelvis of both driver and co-driver received "good" protection.
The side pole impact test also returned an "OK" rating for critical body areas.
Child Occupant Protection — 45 Out of 49
The Seltos scored 45 out of 49 in child occupant protection. This is a strong result.
For dynamic testing, the car scored a perfect 24 out of 24. Both the 18-month-old and 3-year-old child dummies — tested in rearward-facing child seats — received full marks in both frontal and side crash tests. Child restraint system installation also got a perfect 12 out of 12.

The only points lost were in vehicle assessment, where the Seltos scored 9 out of 13. This brought the overall child safety score to 45 out of 49.

How the Seltos Compares to the Tata Sierra
The Tata Sierra was tested by Bharat NCAP earlier this month and also received a 5-star rating. The Seltos scored marginally higher overall, making it one of the top-scoring cars tested in the 2026 batch so far.
Both cars are now confirmed 5-star rated in India's official crash test program.
Standard Safety Features on the Kia Seltos
The Seltos comes well equipped on safety even at the base trim. Standard features across all variants include 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, ESC, tyre-pressure monitoring, hill-start assist, all-wheel disc brakes, downhill brake control, rear occupant alert, ISOFIX child seat mounts, rear parking sensors and a rearview camera.
Higher variants also get a 360-degree camera, blind spot monitoring and Level 2 ADAS with features like lane keep assist and adaptive cruise control.
Kia Seltos Price and Rivals
The Kia Seltos is priced from Rs 10.99 lakh to Rs 19.99 lakh ex-showroom. It competes with the Renault Duster, Hyundai Creta, Tata Sierra, Maruti Grand Vitara, Toyota Hyryder, Honda Elevate, Maruti Victoris, Skoda Kushaq and Volkswagen Taigun.
With a 5-star Bharat NCAP rating now confirmed, the Seltos adds a strong safety credential to an already competitive package in one of India's busiest SUV segments.
