New Audi RS5 India Launch Details Revealed
Audi has officially confirmed the Audi RS 5 for India, and it is coming as a sedan-only CBU import.

While a launch timeline is yet to be announced, the car is expected to arrive in India in 2026 at a price of around Rs 1.5 crore (ex-showroom).

Audi RS 5 India Details

The Audi RS 5 2026 was globally revealed in February 2026 in two body styles — Avant (station wagon) and Saloon (fastback sedan). For India, Audi will import only the sedan variant as a completely built unit. The previous-generation S5 Sportback, which was last priced at Rs 73.57 lakh before being delisted from Audi India's website, has already been removed making way for the RS 5 to occupy the performance sedan space in the brand's India lineup.
Engine and Performance
The Audi RS 5 is powered by a 2.9-litre twin-turbocharged V6 petrol engine producing 510hp and 600Nm, paired with a plug-in hybrid system that contributes an additional 177hp and 460Nm. Combined, the powertrain delivers 639hp and 825Nm of total output making it one of the most powerful performance sedans available in India at this price point.

Power goes through an 8-speed torque-converter automatic gearbox and a limited-slip centre differential. Depending on driving conditions, the system can send up to 70 percent torque to the front axle or up to 85 percent to the rear axle, giving the RS 5 strong all-weather traction and dynamic flexibility.
The claimed 0 to 100kmph time is 3.6 seconds. While Audi has not officially stated the Audi RS 5 top speed, the international spec is electronically limited to 250kmph, with higher limits available as options on some markets.
Battery, EV Range and Charging
The electric motor is powered by a 25.9kWh battery pack that Audi claims offers an electric-only range of over 80km. An 11kW onboard charger enables a full charge in approximately 2.5 hours.

For Indian buyers who may be concerned about fuel costs on a high-performance car, this PHEV setup offers a meaningful practical advantage over a purely combustion-powered performance sedan.
Design
Exterior

The RS 5 carries the bold, wide-body design language expected from an RS product. Key exterior highlights include:
Large honeycomb front grille extending to side air intakes
Smoked Matrix LED headlights with chequered-flag DRL signature
Body widened by 4cm on each side compared to the standard A5
Flared wheel arches and 20-inch alloy wheels as standard
RS steel brakes with 420mm front and 400mm rear discs standard
Optional 21-inch wheels and carbon-ceramic brakes available on international spec
Fastback-style sloping roofline on the sedan
Connected OLED tail-lights, gloss-black diffuser, and twin oval exhaust tips on each side
Interior

Inside, the RS 5 comes with a triple-screen dashboard setup:
11.9-inch digital driver's display
14.5-inch OLED central infotainment screen
10.9-inch front passenger display
Climate control is managed through the infotainment screen, but Audi retains physical buttons and scrollers on the 3-spoke steering wheel for key functions. The steering also gets dedicated RS drive mode buttons and a boost mode button, which deploys maximum acceleration for up to 10 seconds.
The cabin uses an all-black theme with red ambient lighting and red seat piping. The dashboard, door pads, and armrests are finished in Dinamica suede upholstery, while the steering wheel is wrapped in Nappa leather. International-spec cars come with heated, powered front bucket seats with massage function as standard. Seat ventilation and a sunroof are available at extra cost.
Audi RS 5 Expected Price in India and Launch Timeline
The Audi RS 5 price in India is expected to be around Rs 1.5 crore (ex-showroom). As a CBU import arriving in a low-volume, performance-focused segment, this pricing is in line with what similar cars command. It will be considerably more expensive than the S5 Sportback it effectively replaces in the lineup.
Audi has not confirmed a specific launch date yet but given that the global reveal happened in February 2026 and CBU paperwork typically moves faster than locally assembled models, a 2026 India launch looks likely.
On ground clearance, Audi has not officially stated the Audi RS 5 ground clearance figure for the India-spec model, and this detail will be confirmed closer to the official launch.
Rivals
At its expected price point, the Audi RS 5 will compete with:
Porsche Panamera (base variants)
It enters this segment with a clear advantage the PHEV powertrain, 80km+ EV range, and 639hp output give it a strong performance and efficiency case that none of its direct rivals currently match in India.
