Audi Q9 Interior: First Look at the Most Luxurious Cabin

Audi has officially revealed the interior of its upcoming Q9 luxury SUV, and it looks like the brand is taking comfort and technology to a completely new level. This is not just another premium SUV. According to Audi CEO Gernot Dollner, the new Q9 is designed to change the way people experience luxury inside a car. He said the idea behind Audi’s famous “Vorsprung durch Technik” philosophy is now more focused on comfort, experience, and smart technology rather than only performance.
Space Like You've Never Seen Before

The moment you step inside the Q9, the cabin feels massive and super spacious. It will be Audi’s biggest SUV ever, and the company has focused heavily on passenger comfort. Buyers will get both six-seat and seven-seat layout options.
If you want a more premium and business-class experience, the six-seat version comes with two individual captain seats in the second row. These seats get electric adjustment and ventilation in both the seat cushion and backrest, giving a first-class airline-style feel.
At the front, both driver and passenger seats come with ventilation and massage functions as standard. Meanwhile, the seven-seat version gets three full-size seats in the middle row, and all of them can fit child seats easily. Every seat inside the SUV is electrically adjustable. The third-row seats can also fold down automatically with just a button press, making it easy to switch between passenger and luggage space.
Doors That Open at the Push of a Button

For the first time ever, Audi has added fully electric doors in the Q9. The doors can open and close automatically using the key, myAudi app, steering wheel controls, or even the brake pedal.
The wide-opening doors make entry and exit easier, especially when carrying shopping bags, luggage, or a baby stroller. Audi has also added obstacle detection sensors around the SUV. If the system detects less space while opening the doors, they stop automatically. It can even sense nearby cyclists or pedestrians for extra safety.
A Glass Roof That Does Everything

The Q9 gets a massive panoramic sunroof with around 1.5 square meters of glass area. It opens wide to give an open-air driving feel, but the smart part is its adjustable glass sections. The roof has nine individually controlled glass segments that can switch from transparent to opaque with a single touch. This means passengers can enjoy sunlight whenever they want or block it completely without using a traditional sunblind.
The glass already blocks over 99.5% UV rays and also reduces heat entering the cabin. Higher variants get an even more advanced setup with 84 small LED lights built into the roof. Owners can choose from 30 different colors, and the roof lighting can sync with the ambient lighting inside the cabin. When parked, the roof automatically turns opaque for better privacy. Once the vehicle starts again, it remembers the last selected setting.
Lighting and Sound That Impress
The cabin lighting inside the Q9 is designed to create a premium and relaxing atmosphere. Contour lighting runs across the dashboard and doors, making the cabin look wider and more modern. Indirect lighting under the MMI screen and center console creates a floating effect, while a full-width dynamic light strip changes with the music playing inside the SUV.
For audio, Audi has partnered with Bang & Olufsen to offer a new 4D sound system. Passengers get headrest-mounted speakers, allowing individual music, calls, or navigation instructions without disturbing others inside the cabin.
The front seats also feature special actuators that create vibration effects matching the bass and rhythm of the music, so passengers can actually feel the sound experience. Audi’s new “experiences” feature also changes interior lighting colors based on the album cover art of the song currently playing.
Premium Materials and Thoughtful Design
Audi has used high-quality materials throughout the cabin to give the Q9 a rich and premium feel. Buyers can choose from wool upholstery with alpaca fiber, Dinamica microfiber, premium leather, and fine Nappa leather options. The SUV also offers different trim finishes including fine grain ash wood, silk beige, lime structure wood, and carbon fiber with basalt grey accents.
Instead of glossy surfaces that easily catch fingerprints, Audi has used matte and textured finishes across the cabin. This makes the interior look cleaner, more elegant, and practical for daily use. New interior shades like Tamarind Brown and Stone Beige have also been added for more customization options. Overall, the cabin design feels calm, classy, and modern without looking too flashy.
Smart Storage and Cargo Space
Even with all the luxury features, Audi has not ignored practicality. The redesigned center console gets two wireless charging pads using the latest Qi2.2 standard, allowing two smartphones to charge at the same time. There are also high-speed USB-C ports offering up to 100W charging support.
At the rear, the boot area features a new aluminum rail system on the sides. This allows owners to secure luggage using adjustable hooks and anchors while keeping the floor area completely flat for larger items. Audi will also provide a roof rack as standard with the Q9.
What’s Next?
The all-new Audi Q9 is expected to officially launch in the next two months, while its full world premiere will happen during summer 2026. With the Q9, Audi clearly wants to redefine luxury SUV interiors by combining space, comfort, technology, and practicality into one premium package. The company says the experience begins the moment you enter the cabin — and from what we’ve seen so far, that statement looks absolutely true.
