VinFast VF 8

VinFast has filed the design patent for the VF8 electric SUV in India, which strongly indicates that the brand may be preparing for a future launch. In the auto industry, such filings are usually an early step before introducing a new vehicle in a market. It mainly helps companies protect their design and plan their entry strategy. Reports suggest VinFast is actively looking at India as an important EV growth market. The VF8 is already sold globally, and this filing points towards the updated model likely intended for India.

The SUV is expected to bring a modern and premium design language, similar to its global version. It carries VinFast’s signature styling with a futuristic SUV look, sharp lighting elements, and aerodynamic body lines. Overall, it appears to be designed for premium Indian EV buyers who want something stylish and different from regular electric SUVs.

Powertrain & Performance

Powertrain & Performance

The VF8 globally is powered by a 60.13 kWh battery pack, paired with a front-mounted electric motor producing around 228 hp and 330 Nm of torque. This setup is designed to balance performance with efficiency, making it suitable for both city driving and highway use.

VinFast claims a driving range of up to 500 km (NEDC cycle) on a single charge, along with fast-charging capability that allows the battery to go from 10% to 70% in under 30 minutes. This combination of range, power, and charging speed positions the VF8 as a practical premium electric SUV for long-distance as well as daily usage.

Key Features of VinFast VF8

  • V-shaped LED DRLs

  • 12.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system

  • Fully digital instrument cluster

  • ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System)

  • 360-degree camera system

  • Connected car technology

  • Dual-zone automatic climate control

VinFast India Lineup, Pricing Details and VF8 Market Position

VinFast officially entered the Indian market last year with the launch of its VF6 and VF7 electric SUVs, priced at around ₹17.29 lakh and ₹21.89 lakh (ex-showroom) respectively. The brand later expanded its portfolio with the VF MPV 7 seven-seater, which was introduced at approximately ₹24.49 lakh (ex-showroom).

These launches clearly show that VinFast is starting its India journey in the affordable-to-mid EV segment, focusing on building a strong base in the mass premium category. Now, with the VF8 design patent filed in India, the SUV is expected to take VinFast into a much more premium space.

If it enters the market, it will sit above the VF7 and mark the brand’s move into the higher-end electric SUV category in India. Based on its global positioning and segment placement, the VF8 is expected to come with a more premium price bracket, likely above ₹40 lakh and into the ₹45–₹60 lakh range (estimated ex-showroom), depending on final specification and local strategy.
