Tata Tiago EV 2026 Gets 30kWh Battery and Faster Charging

Tata Motors could soon bring a big update for the Tiago EV in India. According to recent media reports, the affordable electric hatchback may get a larger 30kWh battery pack along with faster DC charging and improved motor technology. While Tata Motors has not officially confirmed these updates yet, the expected changes could make the Tiago EV more practical for both city driving and longer journeys.

Currently, the Tiago EV comes with 19.2kWh and 24kWh battery pack options that offer a claimed MIDC range of 223km and 293km respectively. The upcoming 30kWh battery version is expected to deliver a claimed range of around 366km on a single charge, which would be a major improvement over the current model.

New Battery Setup Brings More Range

Reports suggest that Tata Motors may use new prismatic battery cells sourced from Gotion for the updated Tiago EV. These battery cells are expected to improve efficiency and energy storage, helping the hatchback deliver more driving range without making the car bigger in size. The larger battery could also make the Tiago EV more useful for buyers who regularly travel longer distances and want fewer charging stops during trips.

Tiago EV Gets Advanced 6-in-1 Motor Setup

The updated Tiago EV is also expected to get Tata’s newer 6-in-1 integrated electric drive motor setup, similar to the system used in the Tata Punch EV. Reports suggest the motor could produce around 80PS to 88PS of power along with 140Nm torque. This new setup may improve acceleration, efficiency, and overall driving performance compared to the current Tiago EV.

Improved Fast Charging for Better Usability

Another major upgrade could be faster DC charging support above 50kW. The current Tiago EV already supports fast charging, but the newer system may reduce charging time even further. With improved charging speed, the updated Tiago EV could become more convenient for daily use as well as highway travel, especially as EV charging infrastructure continues to grow across India.

Interior & Exterior Updates

The 2026 Tata Tiago EV is also expected to receive some styling and feature upgrades. On the outside, the hatchback could get redesigned LED headlamps, updated DRLs, a revised front bumper, and new alloy wheels inspired by Tata’s latest EV lineup.

Inside the cabin, Tata Motors may offer a larger touchscreen infotainment system, updated digital instrument cluster, improved connected car features, and new interior trims. These changes are expected to make the cabin feel more modern and premium than before.
