BYD India Price Hike Up to 3% from May 2026

In the latest update, BYD is likely to increase the prices of its cars in India by up to 3% from May. Right now, models like the BYD Atto 3 are priced from around ₹33 lakh, while the BYD Seal starts at about ₹41 lakh (ex-showroom). After the price hike, buyers may have to pay around ₹50,000 to ₹1 lakh extra depending on the model and variant. For example, a car priced at ₹40 lakh could become costlier by around ₹1–1.2 lakh. The exact increase may be different for each model. The company is expected to take this step because of rising costs. So, if you are planning to buy a BYD car, it might be a good idea to book it before the new prices come into effect.

Why BYD Cars Are Getting Costlier

The current situation in the Middle East has created some uncertainty in global markets and is also affecting trade routes. Problems around the Strait of Hormuz have increased the cost of key raw materials like aluminium and petroleum coke, which are important for making EV batteries. For a company like BYD, which mainly focuses on electric vehicles, this rise in costs is likely to increase overall production expenses. This is one of the main reasons why the company is planning to increase prices.

Along with this, higher shipping costs are also making it expensive to bring cars and parts into India. Right now, BYD sells models like the Atto 3, eMax 7, Seal and Sealion 7 in the Indian market. With a price hike of up to 3%, buyers may have to pay around ₹50,000 to ₹1.2 lakh more depending on the model. For example, a car priced at ₹33 lakh could go up to around ₹34 lakh, while a ₹41 lakh car may reach close to ₹42 lakh. These are only expected figures for now, as the company has not yet shared the exact price increase for each model.
