New Hero Xpulse 421 Spotted Testing

Hero MotoCorp’s upcoming Xpulse 421 has been spotted testing in the mountains once again, giving us the clearest view of the bike so far. The latest spy shots suggest that the company is in the final stages of development, and the new adventure motorcycle is expected to take its place above the Xpulse 210 in Hero’s lineup. The fresh images reveal several important details about its design, hardware and features, hinting that Hero is preparing a more capable machine for touring as well as off-road riding. If everything goes as expected, the Xpulse 421 could become one of the brand’s most exciting premium motorcycles in the coming months.

Built on a Completely New Platform

One of the biggest highlights of the Xpulse 421 is that it is expected to be based on a brand-new engine and chassis platform. Unlike the current Xpulse models, this bike is likely to get a new liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine with a capacity of over 400cc. Hero has not revealed the official power figures yet. However, industry reports suggest that the engine could produce around 40 hp and 40 Nm of torque, making it suitable for highway touring as well as off-road adventures.

Adventure-Ready Design

The test bike clearly shows that Hero is focusing on adventure riding. Even though it is still covered in camouflage, several design details can be seen.

Some of the noticeable features include:

  • A tall windscreen for better wind protection.

  • A large fuel tank that blends smoothly into the rider’s seat.

  • An upright riding position for long-distance comfort.

  • A chunky upswept exhaust.

  • Bodywork that looks practical and built for adventure use.

Overall, the motorcycle appears close to its production version, with most of its major design elements already in place.

New Chassis and Off-Road Hardware

Chassis and Off-Road Bike

The spy images indicate that the Xpulse 421 will use a steel tubular trellis frame, along with upside-down (USD) front forks and a rear monoshock suspension with long travel to handle rough terrain.

The bike also features wire-spoke wheels with tubed tyres, which are commonly preferred for off-road riding. Reports suggest it could get a 21-inch front wheel, while the rear may use a 17-inch wheel instead of the 18-inch setup seen on the smaller Xpulse models.

A 17-inch rear wheel can offer a few practical benefits, such as:

  • Better availability of tyres.

  • Improved stability on paved roads.

  • A slightly lower seat height.

  • Support for wider rear tyre options.

The motorcycle also appears to have a strong and sturdy swingarm designed to handle demanding riding conditions.

Large TFT Display and Modern Features

The upcoming Xpulse 421 is expected to come with several premium features. The test model is seen with a large TFT instrument display, which looks bigger than many screens currently offered in this segment.

The handlebar controls also reveal some interesting details, including:

  • A dedicated Mode button on the left switchgear, hinting at multiple riding modes.

  • A separate cruise control switch on the right side, suggesting Hero may offer this feature for easier highway riding.

Apart from these, the motorcycle is also expected to get switchable dual-channel ABS, front and rear disc brakes, and a radially mounted front brake caliper.

Mountain Testing Suggests Final Development Stage

Testing in mountainous regions helps manufacturers check how a motorcycle performs in challenging conditions like steep roads, rough surfaces and changing weather. The latest test sightings indicate that Hero is carrying out extensive real-world testing before the official reveal.

The overall finish of the prototype also suggests that development is at an advanced stage.

Expected Debut and Price

Looking at its current stage of testing, the Hero Xpulse 421 is expected to make its official debut around EICMA 2026. However, an unveiling does not always mean an immediate launch, as Hero has previously taken time to bring showcased models to the market. If launched in India, the Xpulse 421 is expected to be priced between ₹2.70 lakh and ₹2.90 lakh (ex-showroom), making it Hero MotoCorp’s most premium road-legal adventure motorcycle.

Final Thoughts

The latest mountain test sightings show that the Hero Xpulse 421 is shaping up to be an exciting addition to the adventure bike segment. With a brand-new 400cc+ liquid-cooled engine, fresh chassis, long-travel suspension, modern features like riding modes and cruise control, and a design focused on touring and off-road riding, it has the potential to attract many adventure enthusiasts. Hero is yet to announce the official specifications and launch timeline, but the motorcycle already looks promising.
