Aprilia has silently pulled three scooters from its India lineup.

The SR 160, SXR 125 and SXR 160 are no longer on sale. No formal announcement was made by the brand. If you have been searching for the Aprilia scooter 160 or the Aprilia scooter 125 — both are officially off the shelf now. The SR 160 has been replaced by the new SR 175. The SXR maxi-scooter range, offered in both 125cc and 160cc forms, has been dropped entirely. No direct replacement for the SXR has been announced so far.

  • The SR 160 has been replaced by the more powerful SR 175 with a larger engine and TFT display.

  • The Aprilia SXR range maxi-scooter has been discontinued with no replacement in sight.

  • The SXR 125 and SXR 160 shared engines with the SR 125 and SR 160 respectively.

  • The SXR used 12-inch wheels and larger bodywork, distinct from the SR's 14-inch wheel setup.

Aprilia SXR Range Discontinued

The SXR range was Aprilia's maxi-scooter offering in India. Both the SXR 125 and SXR 160 came with larger, bulkier bodywork built for a more premium, touring-focused stance. The 12-inch wheel setup gave them a distinct road presence — different from the sportier SR lineup's 14-inch wheels.

In terms of Aprilia scooter specifications, both SXR models used the same engines as their SR counterparts. The SXR 125 shared its motor with the SR 125, and the SXR 160 with the SR 160. They were not performance scooters — they were positioned more as stylish, comfortable urban riders.

Buyers who had been eyeing the discontinued Aprilia scooter price for either SXR model will find that no like-for-like replacement exists today. The SXR exit leaves a gap in Aprilia's India portfolio that has not been addressed.

Looking for the discontinued Aprilia 160 price? The SR 160 was last available before being replaced by the SR 175, priced at Rs 1.21 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The SR 175 GP-Replica edition was launched in September at Rs 1.23 lakh.

The Aprilia scooter 160 may be gone, but what replaced it is genuinely better. The SR 175 carries a new 174.7cc engine — an enlarged version of the SR 160's unit. The bump in displacement brings meaningful gains in performance.

In terms of Aprilia scooter top speed, the SR 175 edges ahead of its predecessor. The TFT display it now carries is borrowed from the Aprilia RS 457 — a clear indication that Piaggio India is positioning the SR 175 as a more premium product than the SR 160 ever was.

The styling, including the LED headlight and tail-light layout, remains largely familiar. So if you liked the SR 160's look, the SR 175 won't feel like a stranger.

What This Means for Aprilia Scooter Buyers

Aprilia's scooter lineup in India is now simpler — but also narrower. The SR 125 and SR 175 are the two main options left. Buyers wanting a maxi-scooter from Aprilia have no option currently.

Aprilia SR 175 mileage is rated at around 40–45 kmpl under standard conditions — slightly lower than the older SR 160 due to the larger engine. The SR 125 continues to be the more fuel-efficient choice for city commuters.

Piaggio India's quiet approach to this discontinuation — no press release, no formal communication — mirrors how it handled the SR 175's own launch. The brand appears to prefer gradual, low-noise transitions rather than formal announcements. Whether the SXR nameplate returns in a new avatar is something riders will have to wait and watch for.
