The most sold car in India in 2025, based on full-year passenger vehicle sales data shared by major automotive industry reports, was the Maruti Suzuki Dzire.
During the 2025 calendar year, the Dzire kept very strong and steady sales every month and finally finished at the number one position in the overall ranking. It recorded around 2.14 lakh units sold, which helped it stay just ahead of other popular models in the market.
The Hyundai Creta and Tata Nexon were also very close competitors, each selling around 2.01 lakh units. Other cars that performed well throughout the year include the Maruti WagonR with around 1.90 lakh units, Maruti Baleno with around 1.85 lakh units, and Maruti Fronx with around 1.70 lakh units. All of them remained in the top-selling list, but none could pass the Dzire in total yearly sales.
The main reason behind Dzire’s strong performance is its simple and practical value for Indian buyers. It gives good mileage, low maintenance cost, and reliable long-term use, which makes it suitable for both families and commercial use. The compact sedan design offers enough comfort for daily travel, and Maruti Suzuki’s wide service network across India also builds strong trust among buyers.
